Clarence Seedorf raves about AC Milan star that Tottenham actually want to sign

Clarence Seedorf has been quoted by Tutto Mercato Web as raving about AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan as he kept a clean sheet against Tottenham on Wednesday night – amid reports that Spurs actually want to sign Maignan.

Maignan, 27, joined Milan in the summer of 2021 after clocking up 180 games for Lille. He has since starred between the sticks for Milan, clocking up 23 clean sheets in 51 games. In that time, he has only conceded 44 goals at Milan.

Indeed, the five-time France star is expected to replace Hugo Lloris as France’s no.1 after Lloris retired from France duty. But he could also end up replacing Lloris at club level, too. Football London claim Tottenham want Maignan.

Seedorf was full of praise for the Milan goalkeeper, who produced a stunning stop to deny Harry Kane deep into injury time – sending Milan through. The ex-Milan star and Netherlands icon said Maignan is “special” and a “champion”.

“He’s not a goalkeeper like the others, he’s special, he proved it last year. He’s been out for many months, he’s been ready. This is a champion, because he saves you to win games,” Seedorf told Amazon Prime, as per Tutto Mercato Web.

Seedorf raves about Milan goalkeeper Maignan amid Tottenham reports

Maignan is clearly a goalkeeper of world-class quality. But could he really be convinced by a move to Tottenham after his Milan side eased past a poor Spurs side? Following Wednesday night, you would argue, he’d rather stay at Milan.

But, the lure of the Premier League will of course tempt Maignan. It might be Spurs need to qualify for the Champions League come the end of the season. While they sit in fourth, the negative feel at the club may hamper their chances.
