Julen Lopetegui has confirmed injury has forced Pablo Sarabia to miss Wolverhampton Wanderers’ trip to Newcastle United.

Spanish winger Sarabia has been a fixture in Lopetegui’s line-up since swapping Paris Saint-Germain for the Premier League in January, The 30-year-old has scored once in his six starts for Wolves.

“Sarabia has had a little problem in the last two days, that is why he stayed in Wolverhampton and he’s not here,” Lopetegui said.

Lopetegui has made four changes to his starting line-up from last weekend, when a series of substitutes inspired Wolves to victory. Adama Traore has been handed a start after his match-winning display against Tottenham Hotspur, while Joao Moutinho and Raul Jimenez also return to the XI.

Daniel Podence has come in from the cold to start at St James’ Park too. The Portuguese winger was left out of the squad versus Spurs due to "tactical reasons".

On Podence, Lopetegui added: “Each match is different. He worked well this week and I chose this line-up thinking it’s the best for today. The most important thing is that the players are ready to help us from the bench. Today he is helping us from the start.”
