Aaron Mooy Celtic revival blows former Man Utd star away as 'Man City PR signing' told he's good enough for EPL return

Mooy has defied all expectations since signing for the Hoops becoming a key man under Ange Postecoglou.

Aaron Mooy has shown he's good enough to play in the Premier League again before he retires - but he might just finish his career at Celtic anyway.

That's the view of former Manchester United defender Paul Parker who has been blown away by his Parkhead career revival. Mooy arrived on a free transfer in the summer and having spent the last two years of his career playing with Shanghai Port in China, he was largely expected to be a squad player with many questioning the decision to hand him a two-year deal.

But after a brief settling-in period, he's shown just why he was a favourite of Ange Postecoglou's during his time as Australia boss. Since the season resumed after the World Cup, he has been one of the first names on the teamsheet, becoming a fan favourite and rediscovering the form that saw him previously set the Premier League alight with Huddersfield.

And Parker, who featured more than 100 times for United under Sir Alex Ferguson in the 1990s and spent time working as a coach in Australia, reckons the "amazing midfielder" has what it takes for another crack at England's top flight. But he believes the 32-year-old might just want to hang around and rack up the trophies in Glasgow.

Parker told SpilXperten: “Aaron Mooy was amazing at Huddersfield. His football education is very good because he has played in Europe for a lot of years. And I think he learned a lot at Man City even though he was a PR-signing for them just like when clubs are signing players from America.

“Now he has been absolutely amazing for Celtic, which is a very big club. Really, I have a massive respect for that club. I love the fans and the atmosphere and a lot of players would do everything to play there.

“Because of that, I could see him stay at Celtic for the rest of his career. He must really enjoy being there and performing so well.

“But he has the ability to play in the Premier League. Maybe not for one of the big six clubs but he is definitely good enough to play for a good club that is competing for top 10 in the Premier League.”

“But for Celtic he can win championships, play in the Champions League and do what a lot of people are dreaming about. But I would love to see him back in the Premier League.”
