SAINTS manager Ruben Selles faces a wait to find out the severity of an injury to Kyle Walker-Peters, after he was withdrawn during defeat to Brentford.

The full-back was replaced by James Bree after under an hour of the eventual 2-0 loss with a suspected hamstring concern.

Walker-Peters has suffered injuries of this nature already this campaign, which Selles admits adds to the concern – but the Spaniard does not think it will be a major injury.

Walker-Peters was among the stand-out performers on Sunday, when Saints held Manchester United to a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford. He is now a doubt for this weekend’s visit of Spurs.

Asked for an update on the man who made his England debut 12 months ago, Selles told reporters: “We need to check. We don't suspect a major injury.

"It was more a kick he caught in the hamstring area which we need to see. We need to sit and analyse it so it's not an answer I can give right now."

He added: "Of course, we need to take care of our players and we know that Kyle has had problems with his hamstring, but we will evaluate and then we will see."

Selles could issue a more conclusive update later this week, on Friday, when he is likely to preview the Tottenham Hotspur match.
