David Beckham gives Brentford seal of approval as son Romeo plots development path

The former Manchester United and England midfielder has been a keen observer of his son's development

David Beckham has been keeping tabs on son Romeo's development at Brentford with the prospect of father and son reuniting at MLS side Inter Miami.

Beckham junior has linked up with Brentford B on loan from Miami, where his dad and Manchester United great is part owner. The 20-year-old has been with the London club's second team since January and has seen plenty of playing time.


Beckham senior has been a keen observer and Bees coach Neil MacFarlane has spoken of the trust the former England captain has placed in Brentford's staff developing the prospect. In an interview with the Daily Mail, the club's head coach explained the father son links throughout the squad and how the London outfit plot a player's career path.

"We've got Max Dickov, Paul's son, Maxwell Wilcox, Jason's son, and Aaron Pressley, Steven's son," MacFarlane said. "There's also Kyreece Lisbie, the son of Kevin. And also Romeo.

"He (Romeo) had been out of football for three or four years and had gone out to Inter Miami II. I knew I could make him better and it's been an absolute pleasure to work with him.

"He wants to practice every day and to learn. He's got a great attitude. His dad has been in and around the club a few times watching the training and has had chats with us. He loves the way we go about our business.

"He can see his boy improving. He comes to the games the odd time. As a family and a player, they've really bought into it. We're hugely proud of the fact that these fathers who've done so well in their careers are trusting us to make their boys better."
