Chris Kamara told Mourinho to sign Van Dijk for Man Utd and was given blunt response
Football icon Chris Kamara was given a blunt response by Jose Mourinho - after he told the legendary boss he should sign Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk while at Manchester United
Chris Kamara has revealed he urged Jose Mourinho to move for Virgil van Dijk - when the Dutchman was impressing at Southampton.
Mourinho was at the helm of Manchester United in 2017, when Liverpool and Manchester City were competing for Van Dijk's signature. And speaking on Kammy and Ben’s Proper Football Podcast, Kamara notes he urged Mourinho to go and get the Dutchman.
Kamara said: "I can exclusively reveal that I told Jose [Mourinho] to take him to Manchester United and Jose said, 'These lot won't give me the money for him.' Yeah, and he went to Liverpool."

Van Dijk had been expected to join Liverpool the summer beforehand, however Liverpool's move fell through when the Reds apologised for making an alleged illegal approach for the Dutchman.

Liverpool's signing of Van Dijk in 2017 was for a world record £75million. However, he transformed the fortunes of the Reds, with Liverpool finally getting their hands on a Premier League title with the Dutchman a key part of the squad.
In that time, United won their fair share of spoils, but a Premier League title has still eluded the Red Devils.
Instead, United signed Harry Maguire the following summer, who had impressed at Leicester and with England at the 2018 World Cup.
Maguire has been slammed by United fans in recent months, and the Englishman has found himself out of the first-team due to Lisandro Martinez's impressive performances.
