Aaron was my hero, he was buzzing when I joined Rangers – John Souttar’s emotional tribute to brother’s tragic MND fight

RANGERS ace John Souttar has paid an emotional tribute to tragic brother Aaron.
The Ibrox defender, 26, was left distraught when his eldest sibling died from Motor Neurone Disease last July at 42.
And he told how he and younger brother Harry, 24 — who starred for Australia at the World Cup — now both have tattoos of the proud dad.
John said: “Aaron was my hero growing up. Still is. He was both our heroes really.
“He’s in our thoughts every day and everything we do is to make him proud.”
The Scotland international revealed Aaron was with him when he signed his Gers deal in January 2022.

Sadly, Aaron passed away just two weeks before John made his debut for the club last July.
He recalled: “He was there when I signed for Rangers and was absolutely buzzing. He came into the Blue Room with me.
“Harry got his tattoo first then I finally got the chance to get it. Now he will always be with us for every big moment in our lives.”
Former Dundee United and Hearts centre-half John has battled back from his third serious leg injury. He put his mental strength down to his parents and older brother.

John added: “That puts everything into perspective for me and Harry.
“What Aaron went through compared to us — and there wasn’t one day where he sat and complained about anything in life.
“So for us to go through a football injury, how could we complain about anything when he’s sitting there still laughing and joking?
“Every day we would look at him and think, ‘How can he go through this and not complain for two years?’. He inspires me every day.”
Last month, younger brother Harry also opened up on his tattoo tribute to Aaron.
He said: "I had the tattoo done a month or two after his passing.
“It is just him golfing at St Andrews. He was a massive golfer, he was club captain at the local club in Brechin, near where we grew up.
"St Andrews was his favourite course. His memory drives me on massively since he passed.

“I’ve got the tattoo on my arm so that he’ll always be with me.
“He would have been so proud to have seen me play at a World Cup or at Old Trafford now."
