Arsenal are reportedly leading the race to sign Brazilian wonderkid Vitor Roque, and are also said to be interested in bringing Barcelona defender Eric Garcia to the Emirates.

Mundo Deportivo have reported that the Gunners are in the best position to sign Roque from Athletico Panaraense, ahead of Chelsea and Barcelona.

Though the 18-year-old's dream is to play for Barcelona, his father, Juvenal Ferreira and his representatives are said to be focusing on a move to Arsenal and have flown to London to discuss a deal.

His representatives have moved their interest away from Barcelona due to the club's financial limitations and with questions over whether they will be able to sign any players during the upcoming summer window.

Arsenal's sporting director Edu Gaspar meanwhile has been in contact with the teenager 'for months'.

The Gunners are also said to be interested in former Man City defender Garcia.

They had been interested in signing him from Barcelona during the January transfer window, only for the the 22-year-old to refuse their offer.

However, following reports that Barcelona have agreed to sign Atletico Madrid defender Inigo Martinez on a free transfer this summer, Garcia may contemplate leaving the Nou Camp.

Garcia has a contract until 2026, but he is down the pecking order under Xavi at Barcelona, with just 14 appearances to his name this season.

Roque meanwhile only joined Athletico Panaraense last April in a £3.7m deal from Cruzeiro.

He forced his way into the senior squad after helping Brazil win the U20 South American Championship in February.

Last season he scored 14 goals and registered five assists in 52 games across all competitions.
