Jacob Bedeau on St Mirren transfer radar as Stephen Robinson plots raid of former club Morecambe
The Buddies' boss is looking to take the centre-back north of the border from his former club.
St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson wants to line up a summer raid for Morecambe defender Jacob Bedeau.
The Buddies boss is already looking to strengthen his squad for next season and is keen to land the 23-year-old, after he took Bedeau from Burnley to the Shrimps last summer. Robinson wants to work with the central defender again in Scotland but the deal will all comes down if Morecambe would be willing to sell and if the player can be convinced to head for the Scottish Premiership.
Bedeau came through the youth ranks of Bury before he was signed by Aston Villa for a significant six figure fee. He spent two seasons there before he had a successful stint at Scunthorpe and was snapped up by Burnley. Robinson previously brought up his Morecambe teammate Jonah Ayunga, who did really well for St Mirren before injury curtailed his campaign. St Mirren head of recruitment Martin Foyle has been looking at a number of targets south of the border in recent weeks and Bedeau is a player he knows well.
The St Mirren board have backed Robinson financially as he looks to push his team back into the top six and then the European fight. The Paisley hierarchy has also invested in improving the training ground and other areas of the club.
Robinson has also been given the funds to extend the contracts of key players like captain Mark O’Hara and Trevor Carson. The St Mirren board are also set to open talks with Robinson over a new contract.
The club made him one of their highest paid bosses when they headhunted him from Morecambe last year. St Mirren also have a number of new contract offers on the table to the likes of striker Curtis Main and Australian international Ryan Strain.
