Report: Newcastle dodge free transfer move for Evan Ndicka

Newcastle United were offered the chance to sign Evan Ndicka but seemingly won’t make a move for the Eintracht Frankfurt star.

The Magpies are expected to make a number of signings this summer to kick on again under Eddie Howe.

Champions League qualification would certainly help Newcastle’s cause in the transfer market, but they will be appealing no matter what.

Howe and co will be assessing a number of options but a deal for Ndicka doesn’t seem to be in the immediate plans.

90Min report that Newcastle were offered the chance to sign Ndicka on a free transfer this summer.

However, Newcastle allegedly aren’t looking to add another left-footed centre back right now.

If Newcastle sign a left back – such as Kieran Tierney – then Dan Burn may move inside as competition for Sven Botman.

That seems to be the priority for Newcastle over adding another left-footed centre back in Ndicka.

Evan Ndicka could still end up in the Premier League

Ndicka is out of contract at Frankfurt this summer and looks set to move on for nothing.

The 23-year-old has become one of the Bundesliga’s top defenders since joining from Auxerre back in 2018.

After five years in Germany, it looks like Ndicka is now ready to take the next step in his career.

90Min’s report notes that Manchester City and Liverpool are both keeping close tabs on Ndicka for a potential bargain summer move.

90Min also claimed in February that Tottenham are weighing up a deal for Ndicka as they seek a new left-footed defender.

Tall, quick and confident on the ball, Ndicka has impressed on the left side of a back three in Germany.

Teams who play a back four may need to be fully convinced by Ndicka but the talent is there.

Newcastle may not be focusing on signing Ndicka but they could end up facing him in the Premier League next season.
