Lucas Moura’s wife, Larissa Moura, has defended the Tottenham Hotspur winger after his costly red card during his side’s 1-1 draw against Everton at Goodison Park on Monday night.
Stand-in coach Cristian Stellini brought on Lucas Moura in the 82-minute, but eight minutes later, he was shown a straight red for a late lunge on Michael Keane, before the Everton defender himself scored a long-range thunderbolt to share the spoils.
Whilst Moura is known to be an all-action forward, he isn’t known to make those types of late tackles and it did seem like an out-of-character moment from the 30-year-old, whose wife wasn’t happy about reading ‘so many bad comments’ about her husband.
The player himself, and his Spurs teammates, knew that it was a red card offence, and when he had to walk off, he looked dejected.
Understandably so, with Spurs dropping more points on the road, some fans would have been pretty vocal towards the Brazil star.
But in the comments section of Tottenham’s IG post, one fan stated ‘Gotta feel bad for Lucas Moura that guy is an absolute legend’.
Moura’s wife responded to that comment and added: ‘Thank you for being able to be supportive in the midst of so many bad comments and put yourself in other’s shoes. I don’t remember the last red card he took in his career, and one thing you can be sure of, he gives the maximum in EVERYTHING he does’.
BIGGER ISSUES AT TOTTENHAM THAN MOURA
The Spurs winger isn’t the issue here, but the mess the club finds itself in, both on the inside and the outside.
Daniel Levy is without a manager after sacking Antonio Conte, and one of his targets Julian Nagelsmann could be headed to Chelsea after they sacked Graham Potter.
Then there is the situation with managing sporting director Fabio Paratici, not forgetting that Harry Kane could leave in the summer.
Plus, those words from Conte, after the draw at Southampton, that these players ‘don’t want to play with pressure’ is now ringing true, after they failed to capitalise on Abdoulaye Doucoure’s red card early in the second half.
