Ex-Rangers boss Gio van Bronckhorst snubbed for management return despite fan clamour

GIOVANNI van Bronckhorst has been overlooked for a top job in his homeland.
Infact, the ex-Rangers boss has not even made the SHORTLIST despite strong support for his appointment from FC Twente fans.
van Bronckhorst has been out of work since leaving Rangers a year into his Ibrox tenure last November.
A disappointing league campaign plus the unwanted Champions League worst-ever record saw him replaced by Michael Beale late last year.
However the boss still has the Scottish Cup and the momentous run to the Europa League Final in Seville on his CV.
Add to that the previous Eredivisie title landed with Feyenoord in 2017 - and van Bronckhorst could be a credible candidate for vacancies in his homeland.

That background has seen Twente fans tout the 106-capped midfielder to replace Ron Jans at De Grolsch Veste, but sources in Holland say the Dutchman isn't even on the club's radar.
They have been on the lookout for a new boss since mid-February and most recently turned to ex-Lyon and Ajax coach Peter Bosz.
But with that deal falling through they are now expected to move for RKC Waalwijk chief Joe Oosting rather than the unemployed ex-Arsenal man.
Marcel Keizer is also linked but van Bronckhorst has a swell of support on the ground from Twente fans.

One said: "Seems like the ideal man to me. Sober with common sense."
Another added: "Peter Bosz. And if he doesn't want to (yet), Giovanni van Bronckhorst. Sounds like #FCTwente to me. #newtrainer"
van Bronckhorst has kept a low profile since his Ibrox exit and his official Twitter handle still carries his former job in the biography.
He left Rangers nine-points off the top of the cinch Premiership after a lacklustre start to the season which also included a 4-0 thumping by champions Celtic.
A draw away to St Mirren proved his final match in charge and he left to be replaced by Michael Beale during the World Cup break.
Beale earned a draw against Ange Postecoglou's side in January and leads the squad into Saturday's Old Firm match with a virtually identical squad.
The Dutchman's first signing James Sands has departed while Nico Raskin and Todd Cantwell have been added since the managerial change.
