Charlie Adam rinses 'shambolic' Celtic Park away fan lockout for Rangers as he fears incoming reality check

The former Ibrox playmaker is predicting a difficult atmosphere for Michael Beale's men to navigate.

Disappointed Charlie Adam has branded the decision to lockout Rangers and Celtic fans for the final two Scottish Premiership games as "shambolic".

And he admits Rangers may find it tough to play in the Celtic Park cauldron. Away allocations have cut down in recent seasons at Ibrox and in Glasgow's east end when derby day rolls around, but things will be taken a step further in the final two league derby clash of the campaign.

Both sides of the Glasgow divide have announced they will not be allowing any opposition fans in over "safety concerns" with Michael Beale and Ange Postecoglou facing the prospect of a hostile atmosphere amid the complete lockout. Former Rangers star Adam has added his voice to the calls to increase the allocation next term, admitting some of the "shine" has been taken away from the Old Firm clash.

He told PLZ Soccer: "I think the no fans situation has become a shambolic thing over the last few years. I was fortunate enough to play at Celtic Park when it was full of both sets of supporters, and I think it has taken a little bit of the shine away from the game.

"But the clubs now have made the decision to without away supporters for the next two games, but the Rangers players will need to handle it because they haven't got that away support. I think it will be difficult for the Rangers players, but they have been in that situation many times before in previous years (when 700 fans were allowed in the way end).

"They can only focus on what happens on the pitch. If they play well, then they give themselves a chance of winning the match."
