While City and the Gunners are not traditional rivals by any means, things do a complete 180 when two sides are fighting for a league crown.

However, at a recent event, Mohamed Elneny spoke about his desire to see Manchester City win the Champions League in the 2022/2023 season.

“I hope that Manchester City will win the UEFA Champions League title this season”, he said, as quoted by One Football.

HITC View: Arsenal fans have a right to be miffed with Elneny

Considering Arsenal are yet to reign over Europe themselves, it is quite bizarre that one of their most experienced players would be keen to see another English time emerge triumphant in the competition.

And that too a title rival.

If Mohamed Elneny hopes for Manchester City to go deep into the Champions League so that it affects them in the title race, fair enough.

But even so, to openly admit his desire to see the Sky Blues actually go on and win the tournament is a strange shout.

As a player, all one should perhaps say in public about their title rivals is how much they respect their style of play, while appreciating their players, manager and the desire to push them to the brink.
