Nunes boot drama

Wolves hero Matheus Nunes had some boot drama ahead of the Chelsea game but it clearly did not affect him as he went on to score a stunning winner.

The 24-year-old scored a memorable winning goal in the 31st minute to ensure it was a miserable return to the Blues dugout for interim boss Frank Lampard.

Saturday's win could be key in Wolves bid to secure their Premier League status for next season with fellow relegation battlers Nottingham Forest and Leicester City losing at the same time. Julen Lopetegui's side are now up to 12th and are four points clear of the bottom three.

Gomes answers Wolves question

A stunning Matheus Nunes goal, of a level that the great Marco Van Basten would've been proud, was enough to earn Wolves an invaluable three points at Molineux and inflict a 1-0 defeat on Frank Lampard in his first match back in charge of Chelsea.

Nunes fired a sumptuous shot from the edge of the penalty area back across the Blues' goal after the half hour mark as Chelsea followed Liverpool and Tottenham in leaving this corner of the West Midlands empty handed during Julen Lopetegui's reign. In doing so, they've given themselves an almighty shot in the arm in the midst of the frantic Premier League relegation battle.

The finale of this outing might've been naturally nervy because of the precarious score-line, nobody here could argue that Wanderers weren't deserving winners. Here are the talking points from a vibrant Molineux.

Radical Premier League plan

The days of Aston Villa and Wolves fans following their team on Sky Sports and BT Sport could be over in the future amid reports that the Premier League are considering showing games on their own platform.

Sky have been an ever-present broadcasting partner for the Premier League since its inception in 1992 while BT Sport have been showing top-flight football since their launch in 2013.

Villa and Wolves matches have been broadcast on both platforms across large parts of the past 30 years. But according to Mirror Online It’s likely there will be just one more multi-partner deal before the Premier League cut out the middle men and run the show themselves.

Pundit hails Matheus Nunes

Match of the Day pundit Danny Murphy says it was one of Matheus Nunes' "best games" for Wolves following their 1-0 win over Chelsea.

Wolves climbed to 12th place after returning to winning ways in great fashion. The Portuguese scored the only goal that separated the sides, a stunning effort from the edge of the penalty area that lifted the mood at Molineux.

The hosts didn't seem to miss their captain Ruben Neves in midfield, after he picked up his 10th yellow card of the season and will also be absent for Wolves' next game. As for Chelsea, it was a bitter return for Frank Lampard who was in charge of his first game as a caretaker boss.
