Zidane Iqbal reveals nicknames and names best Manchester United moment as strange Leeds incident shared in Q&A

The Man United youngster has revealed all during a recent interview with the club.

Zidane Iqbal has become a regular participant in Manchester United first team training this season

Manchester United midfielder Zidane Iqbal has recalled the strange sight witnessed by the club's under-21s during a match against Leeds United at Elland Road last season.

Iqbal, 19, made 25 appearances for Travis Binnion's side last season but has shared that their Premier League 2 trip across the Pennines stood out for the odd atmosphere that greeted the United youngsters at Leeds. During a sit-down interview with the club's in-house media team, the teenager also shared that he has not one but two nicknames and named what has been the best moment of his career so far.

The fully-fledged Iraq international has featured on the first team substitutes bench several times this season but has yet to add to the single senior appearance made during a late cameo against Young Boys in the Champions League group stages last year. He continues to feature for the United's under-21, though, making a dozen appearances across all competitions.

Asked during the interview what the strangest thing he has ever seen at a match was, Iqbal immediately recalled last season's trip down the M62. "It might not be strange to people, but we were playing Leeds under-21s away at Elland Road (and) they were singing: 'Take your shoe off if you hate Man United,' and they were all swinging their shoes," the teenager replied.

Remembering his best moment during a match was a more pleasant experience, explaining: "For the under-21s last year, against Sunderland in the EFL Trophy, I (scored a goal and) put it in the top right corner. That was a good feeling."

The player also revealed that his nickname around the club is Zee. Another one that only his mates call him is Zizou, a moniker his namesake Zinedine Zidane also shares.
