Thomas Tuchel lamented 'two or three' risky mistakes from his Bayern centre-back Dayot Upamecano as Manchester City built a commanding lead in their Champions League quarter-final.

The two teams were only separated by a Rodri screamer over the course of the first hour at the Etihad, but a storming last 30 minutes from the home team earned a further two goals as the Bundesliga champions wilted under pressure. Upamecano nearly worked his way into trouble when he played the ball against Jack Grealish in the penalty area, and soon after he was robbed of possession by the former Villa man, who backheeled for Erling Haaland to set up Bernardo Silva for the second goal.

City continued to rain shots on Yann Sommer's goal, and a simple move responding to a second ball after a corner was cleared allowed John Stones to head across the box for Haaland to notch his 45th of the season. Bayern boss Tuchel thought his team paid a heavy price for the errors that they made in a game that he suggested was closer than the scoreline made look.
