Arsenal transfer news: Bryan Robson shares Moises Caicedo verdict amid Gunners links

Arsenal continue to be linked with Moises Caicedo ahead of the summer transfer window.

A few weeks ago, Fabrizio Romano said the Gunners are still interested in the Brighton & Hove Albion star.

“Remember my words,” he said on his YouTube channel.

“Caicedo remains a target after the discussions they had during the January transfer window.

“Caicedo is in the list again at Arsenal.”

Arsenal reportedly bid for Caicedo in the January transfer window, but the Seagulls held firm.

In March, the 21-year-old signed a new long-term contract at the Amex Stadium.

However, this hasn’t stopped speculation linking the £80million-rated ace with a move elsewhere this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool and Chelsea are also in pursuit of Caicedo alongside Arsenal.

Also in the Mail, English midfield legend Bryan Robson gave an emphatic verdict on the Ecuadorian.

“Brighton have been terrific this season, full of attacking flair, and this guy has been the anchor for them,” he said.

“Had a terrific season but for the price I’d want to see more goal contributions. Excellent holding player.”

Our view

Arsenal have an outstanding squad, but in terms of strength in depth, it could do with some work.

And in terms of their midfield, the Gunners must think about long-term successors to Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka.

Partey turns 30 in June, while Xhaka turns 31 in September.

Caicedo, at just 21, has shown he has what it takes to shine in the Premier League.

He could easily have a decade at the highest levels of the game, and of course, has time to get even better.
