Angers fans tried a new approach in putting their opponents off on Sunday as they collectively dropped their trousers.

With the game level, Clermont were awarded a penalty in the 39th minute, which Muhammed Cham walked up to take.

While whistling, shouting and waving are all regularly seen distraction methods to put off an opposition spot-kick taker, the Angers away contingent took it to another level as they mooned the forward.

It had little effect on the outcome, with Cham sticking away the penalty and Clermont holding on to win the game 2-1.

The result came in spite of the hosts picking up two red cards, as they picked up a crucial three points despite ending the game with nine men.

It had little effect, as the forward stuck the spot kick away and Clermont went on to win 2-1

For Angers, the loss continued a torrid season for them in the French top flight.

They sit bottom after winning just three of their 31 league games this season, and relegation is becoming a certainty as they trail 16th place Brest by 17 points.

The French side lost 13 games in a row either side of the World Cup, and it's hard to see their fortunes turning around any time soon as they face Paris Saint-Germain in their next match. 

For Clermont, the result lifts them up to the relative comfort of 11th place with seven games remaining.

It gives them a more comfortable end to this season after facing a relegation battle at the end of 2021/22
