Gerrard has been linked with jobs in England and Turkey since his departure from the English Premier League outfit in October but has yet to make his coaching return.

According to Greek outlet Protathlitis, agents have suggested the 42-year old former England captain to Olympiakos as they look for a new permanent manager.

Frenchman Jose Anigo is currently in interim charge at the Greek giants following Michel’s departure just a couple of weeks ago./.

Olympiakos are still chasing the title, currently sitting third and six points behind both Panathinaikos and AEK Athens with six games left to play.

While Gerrard is a shock contender to land the role in Greece, it’s another boss with Rangers connections who is thought to be leading the race.

Ex-Ibrox midfielder Gennaro Gattuso reportedly has an offer from Olympiakos and is considering his response.

He’s out of work having been departing Valencia earlier this year with the Spanish giants facing a stunning shock relegation from La Liga.

Former Leicester and Real Madrid man Esteban Cambiasso and the one-time Tottenham striker Serhiy Rebrov are others who have been linked with the role.

Despite still being in contention for the title, Olympiakos have gone through several managers this season alone.

Pedro Martins was sacked in August after a poor early season run of form, with his replacement Carlos Corberan being sacked just weeks later after barely a month in charge.

Michael left this month with Anigo now in interim charge.

Olympiakos are owned by Evangelous Marinakis who also owns Premier League strugglers Nottingham Forest.
