Robert Snodgrass breaks silence on shock Hearts exit with cryptic message about ‘my side of the story’

ROBERT SNODGRASS has admitted that he was left "gutted and disappointed" after being forced out of Hearts.

Jambos interim Steven Naismith axed the former Scotland international in a shock move after taking over the hot-seat from Robbie Neilson.

Snodgrass' last game for the club was against St Mirren - 24 hours before Neilson was shown the door - and the veteran was sent off in the 2-0 defeat.

He was then subsequently suspended for the Edinburgh derby against Hibs at Easter Road, but it had been announced before that match that he had already played his last game for Hearts.

And Snodgrass has now vowed to eventually spill the beans on his shock exit and what led to the decision, as he took a parting swipe at the lack of team unity at Tynecastle.

But he has thanked the club and former coaches Neilson and Lee McCulloch for welcoming him to Gorgie.

In a statement posted on social media, he wrote: "Just want to thank Hearts for giving me the opportunity to pull on the jersey, and play back in the Scottish game.

"Big thanks to the fans for making me feel loved again, your support has been superb home and away. I would like to thank Robbie Neilson and Lee McCulloch for bringing me to Hearts and allowing me ton play football in a really good team.

"I was emotionally attached and determined for us to kick on. The previous six weeks had been a real challenge for us all.

"But that's when a TEAM sticks TOGETHER, digs in and fights for the guy next to you.

"I was in a fight and desperate for third place that chance was sadly taken away from me. It's left me gutted and disappointed.

"I wish the club all the best for the rest of the season. I loved working

with a great set of boys, helping and developing the younger boys' game. The amount of positive texts I've received from the dressing room leaves me no doubt I've made friends for life.

"I will definitely tell my side of the story but right now isn't the appropriate moment, out of respect to my team and the supporters. The focus has to be on third place. Hope the boys smash it."
