Former Liverpool and Leeds striker striker Robbie Fowler is reportedly considering applying for the manager vacancy at Tranmere Rovers.

The League Two club are on the hunt for a new manager after parting ways with Micky Mellon last month following a prolonged run of poor results.

The club currently sit 11th, having failed in their play-off aspirations and will head into next season under a new management in a bid to gain promotion from the fourth tier of English football.

Fowler, who has had stints in India and Australia is keen to manage in England and could put himself in the running for the Tranmere job according to The Sun.

He retired in 2011 to take charge of Thai club Muangthong in a player-manager capacity until the end of the season.

Tranmere are on the hunt for a new manager after parting ways with Micky Mellon last month

Fowler then tried his luck in Australia with Brisbane Roar in 2019 but returned to England a year later to stay close to his family following the coronavirus outbreak.

His next stint came in India, when he managed Indian Super League side East Bengal, who h. guided to a ninth place finish in the 11-team league before departing a year later.

Fowler is still on the search for his first job as a manager in England having previously been linked to the top job at former club Leeds and Swindon.

He applied for the manager vacancy at Bradford City last season but the League Two side turned to Mark Hughes instead.

Ian Dawes has been the caretaker manager of Tranmere since Mellon's sacking as the Superwhites' hunt for a new boss continues.
