Wout Weghorst replicates Emmanuel Adebayor and runs length of Wembley to celebrate with Manchester United fans

Wout Weghorst may have secured cult hero status for life with his actions following Manchester United’s FA Cup semi-final win.
United overcame Brighton at Wembley on penalties after a scoreless match, setting up a potential second trophy win of the season, this time against rivals Manchester City.
Weghorst ended up being one of the heroes of the match, scoring a pressure sudden-death penalty at 5-5, with Solly March following him and blazing over with the deciding kick.
There may have been some help with mind games from Weghorst, who appeared to be trying to get in the head of March while handing him the ball.
Things were just as tense for the striker, though, having been subbed on for penalty expert Bruno Fernandes in extra time, but he still found the net from the spot.
The Dutch striker was signed as a stop-gap centre forward from Burnley in January, and has had to deal with plenty of criticism from the outside due to his lack of goals.
However, inside the club his relationship with the fans appears to be solid, as shown by his actions when Victor Lindelof scored the winning penalty.
Weghorst instantly changed direction, and ran towards the red end of Wembley, sliding on his knees in celebration in front of the United fans.
The moment was reminiscent of Emmanuel Adebayor’s infamous celebration while playing for Man City, when he ran the length of the pitch to celebrate in front of fans of his old club, Arsenal.
On this occasion, though, it was about a bond rather than shattering one, with Weghorst making his second final since moving to Old Trafford.
The first saw Carabao Cup victory over Newcastle in February, with the striker looking rather emotional with the fans after collecting the first senior trophy of his career.
