Danny Rose says Newcastle’s thrashing of Tottenham helped him rediscover love of football
Rose was a Sky Sports pundit as Newcastle hammered Tottenham in the clash of the ex-England international's former sides
Former England international defender Danny Rose has said Newcastle's comprehensive 6-1 win over former club Tottenham has helped him rediscover his love of football.
The 32-year-old, who has been without a club since leaving Watford in September, was on punditry duty on Sunday afternoon as Eddie Howe's Magpies thrashed Spurs to strengthen their grip on a top four finish and Champions League qualification.
A brace apiece for Jacob Murphy and Alexander Isak, as well as goals from Joelinton and Callum Wilson rendered Harry Kane's goal a mere consolation as United left their top four rivals shellshocked at St James' Park.

And Rose, who played for both clubs but spent the majority of his career at Tottenham where he reached a Champions League final, thanked Howe at full-time for re-energising his enthusiasm for the sport after a difficult period in his career.
"Eddie, I don’t have a question as such but I’ve not watched a lot of football this season," Rose said after the Newcastle boss joined the Sky Sports punditry team at full-time.
"Being here today, watching your team and how you’ve coached them, seeing how they’ve performed. I know it’s against my former team but that was an honour to watch and today. 90 minutes has made me fall in love with football again, so thank you for that."
After Howe thanked Rose for his 'kind words', the former Sunderland defender continued: "No, no, it’s true. It’s no secret I’ve been away from football and I’ve deliberately not watched any football - I didn’t watch any of the World Cup.
"It was only until the other night I watched [Manchester] City in the Champions League, watching it and listening to the music, I started to think I miss it.
"I haven’t been in a stadium for a long time so the feelings of I love football are a lot to do with the atmosphere, so just seeing how they played football and that feeling after three points has just reignited some feelings within myself."
