Simon Jordan makes Unai Emery suggestion after Tottenham sack Cristian Stellini
Latest Aston Villa news from BirminghamLive as Simon Jordan suggests that Tottenham should have looked towards Unai Emery
Simon Jordan has suggested that Tottenham should have looked at appointing Unai Emery before the Spaniard's appointment at Aston Villa, despite him previously managing rivals Arsenal.
Spurs sacked interim boss Cristian Stellini in the wake of Sunday's humiliating 6-1 loss at Newcastle. The Italian was originally supposed to be in charge until the end of the season after replacing Antonio Conte in March, but the loss at St James' Park brought an abrupt end to his short time as manager.
Tottenham have struggled to match the heights of reaching the Champions League final in 2019 since sacking Mauricio Pochettino three years ago. Spurs have only finished in the top four once since the Argentine was sacked.

And Jordan has made the suggestion that Spurs should have looked at Emery before he arrived at Villa, despite his time in charge of North London rivals Arsenal between 2018 and 2019.
“Maybe Tottenham should have been looking at Unai Emery,” he said, via talkSPORT. "But then it’s difficult to employ Unai Emery because who did he work for last in England?”
The Spaniard has overseen a remarkable turnaround at Villa Park since replacing Steven Gerrard back in November. The Villans are on a nine-match unbeaten run which included a five-game winning streak, since losing 4-2 at home to Arsenal on February 18.
Villa had won just two of their 11 opening games to the season, but Emery has since guided the club up the table where they now occupy a position in the top six with just six games left.
