Former Manchester United star Nani's eldest son has followed in his father's footsteps by signing for the Sporting CP youth team.

The Portuguese posted a picture on Twitter of Lucas signing a contract at the club and captioned it with an emoji of a pen, a green heart and a lion. 

The nine-year-old beamed with the Red Devils legend as he put pen to paper and sported the green and white shirt.

The 36-year-old winger joined Sporting CP from his youth team Real Massama in 2004. 

Nani won the National Junior Championship in 2004–05 with Sporting and got promoted to the first team in the 2005-06 season.

After commencing his career at Sporting, Nani made the switch to Manchester United in 2007

He won an array of trophies including the Champions League and four Premier League titles.

Nani rejoined Sporting on loan in 2014 and switched to Fenerbahce permanently the following year.

He has also had spells with Valencia and Lazio, before joining Australian side Melbourne Victory.

Capped by Portugal on over 100 occasions, Nani helped his country to win Euro 2016.

Nani brought his son Lucas onto the pitch after Portugal's win against Croatia. 

Nani and his wife Daniela Martins met in 2007-08 and tied the knot in 2013 before welcoming their son.
