Sky Sports slammed for coverage of horror Seamus Coleman injury: "Have some respect!"
Seamus Coleman was stretchered off the pitch during Everton's draw against Leicester on Monday night, in what could be a huge blow for the club's relegation battle.
Former Chelsea midfielder Jason Cundy has said he was "appalled" by Sky Sports showing several replays of Seamus Coleman's serious injury against Leicester on Monday night.
The talkSPORT pundit said on that he believed 'constant' replays constituted a lack of respect for the player. Coleman was injured following a first-half collision with Boubakary Soumare, with the 50/50 challenge being seen to cause a twisted knee for the Everton man.
Coleman left the pitch following the injury, with the right-back stretchered off while being seen to have been given oxygen as he left the field of play. Coleman thanked the fans with applause as well as handing instructions to teammates as he left the field.
However, after showing the injury from several angles and multiple replays Sky Sports were criticised by Cundy, whose career was ended by a similar injury.
“I was absolutely and utterly appalled at whoever the director was at Sky showing constant replays of that injury." Cundy explained. “Have some respect for someone’s career, he has been an unbelievable servant to Everton.”
“Talking as someone that had their career ended through a knee injury, nothing like that, it was horrendous and someone somewhere has got to have the know-how not to show different replays from different angles. We don’t want to see that.
“I found it incredibly upsetting to watch that, to watch a stalwart of English football and one of the legends of Everton Football Club to be put through the humiliation of having that knee injury, that challenge…
“Every time it seems to get worse. They’ve got to have some respect for that player. It was terrible." He continued. “I doubt I’ll be the only person that says this, shocking decision from Sky.”
Coleman is the club's captain as well as its longest serving player and has only ever played in the Premier League for Everton in a career which has spanned 14 years in the top flight. However, he may miss the club's relegation battle following the injury, with manager Sean Dyche confirming that the player had received a 'serious' knee injury.

We're waiting on news, it could be serious, a knee injury. I thought he was terrific."
The Toffees have just four matches in the Premier League to save their future, with a tough trip away to Brighton next Monday before hosting Manchester City the following week. A trip to Wolves follows before what could be a huge final day clash for which Dyche will hope that his side does not suffer any more bad luck with injuries in the build-up.
