Scott Brown swerves Celtic management return talk with Fleetwood Town pledge as 3 go-to Parkhead wise men named
It's been a successful first season in the dugout for the Parkhead legend at the League One side.
Celtic icon Scott Brown has moved to play down talk of a return to Parkhead as manager - insisting he is looking to take Fleetwood Town to the next level.
Ange Postecoglou has been a major success at Celtic Park leading the club to a double during his first campaign and is set to go one better this term. With the Viaplay Cup already in the Parkhead trophy cabinet a win against Hearts on Sunday would see the Scottish Premiership crown remain in Glasgow's east end, with a win over Inverness CT sealing a clean sweep of domestic honours with the Scottish Cup.
Having led Fleetwood Town to survival in English League One and an improved campaign - after only narrowly surviving the drop with a 20th place finish last term - Brown 's managerial stock is rapidly rising upwards. However, Brown is in no rush to leave The Cods as he put the focus on building on a successful campaign.
Asked about the prospect of a return to Celtic in the dugout by The Mirror, Brown said: "I've got another year left at Fleetwood Town and I’m looking forward to coming back here in pre-season, giving it another go and hopefully push higher up the table. We’re in a good place – we've had a good season – but there’s always room for improvement, we'll take it one game at a time.
"We're going over to Ireland for pre-season. So that will be important for ourselves and the lads to come back in good condition, and then hopefully we’ll hit the ground running at the start of next season."
"There are three managers I still speak to today quite a lot who have been influential. I speak to Brendan Rodgers, Gordon Strachan and Neil Lennon. I take little bits from all three of them. They've been huge in my footballing career, and they've been huge in my managerial career as well.
"They've taken time to speak with me about coaching stuff, what you need to do, the small details as well. And it doesn’t take a lot to help somebody out now and those three have done way more than enough for me."
