Ex-Arsenal star over 30 times richer than Lewis Hamilton with colossal net worth
The former Gooner earned a pretty penny during his playing days but that pales in comparison to the money which he has gone on to make in his new life away from sport
Arsenal fan Lewis Hamilton is far from the richest sports star associated with the club - as a former player dwarfs his net worth.
The F1 legend is one of Britain's most successful athletes both on the track and when it comes to his bank balance. Not only has he earnt millions from his wages, but he's also raked in the cash from countless sponsorship deals.
And according to The Sunday Times Rich List last year, he's sitting on a fortune of £300million. That eye-watering figure is a pipe dream for 99.99% of people - but it's just a fraction of former Gunners midfielder Mathieu Flamini's wealth.

The Frenchman enjoyed a successful playing career which started in his homeland with Marseille and also saw him feature for AC Milan, Crystal Palace and Getafe.
But it's his second career as environmental entrepreneur which has made him a multi-billionaire. Flamini co-founded GF Biochemicals with business partner Pasquale Granata in 2008.
A decade and a half on, Forbes estimate their stakes in the company - which is the first in the world to mass produce levulinic acid - give them a net worth of £10.2billion each.
Arsenal fans - would you want Flamini as your owner? Let us know in the comments section.
Speaking to The Athletic last month, he explained what they do. “We manufacture bio-based ingredients using agricultural waste and plant-based products for the consumer goods industry", said Flamini.
"The shampoo we use, the paints we use, the detergent we use to clean the house, are safer for people and more sustainable for the environment."
While it sounds like a simple enough concept, it's helping to eliminate the use of harmful chemicals from the oil industry.
And it's made Flamini rich beyond his wildest dreams. There's been calls for him to buy Arsenal from the Emirates faithful - something which he's not ruling out.
Speaking about his former sides, he added: “Obviously those clubs have a special place in my heart. I never forget where I come from. In life, you never know but it’s all about the right opportunity. I’m a real believer in the right time, right place, right people.
“We’ll see what the future is made of. I’m a believer. If you want something very much, the universe usually brings it to you. Let’s see what the universe will bring.”
