Aston Villa will be hoping to put a stop to four successive defeats at Anfield to ensure they remain in the hunt for a Europa Conference League place.
Unai Emery’s men now appear to be in a shoot-out with Tottenham to land that all-important seventh-place finish. Spurs host Brentford this lunchtime (12.30pm) prior to Villa’s clash at Liverpool (3pm).
Villa need to better Spurs’ points return from their final two games to ensure European football returns to Villa Park for the first time in 23 years.
Ahead of today’s kick-off at Anfield, Villa will be without ex-Liverpool hero Philippe Coutinho who’s been ruled out for the remainder of the season having sustained another injury setback.
For Liverpool, Roberto Firmino is expected to be involved in what will be his final outing at Anfield before leaving on a free transfer this summer. Star striker Darwin Nunez has, however, been ruled out with a toe injury. Red boss Jurgen Klopp, meanwhile, will serve a two-match touchline ban for comments he made about referee Paul Tierney. The German will be in the stands for this one.

We are disappointed - Ramsey
Aston Villa goalscorer Jacob Ramsey speaking to the Premier League:
"Before the game, with their form, we would probably have taken a point. But we were 1-0 up for so long and we had chances to kill the game. But a point at Anfield is really good.
"We're disappointed not to get the three points. When you come to places like this, the first 15 and last 20 we were definitely under [pressure]. But if you're going to come to these places and get a result, you have to dig deep and we did that.
"I think if we are going to get a European place we want it to be in our hands. It's going to be a big, tough game against Brighton who are also fighting for a position."

PLAYER RATINGS
TYRONE MINGS - 7
Popped up with headed clearances time and time again while Mings was always in the right place at the right time whenever Liverpool looked to work a yard of space inside Villa’s penalty area. However, Mings’ only lapse came at the death as Firmino raced in ahead of him. He was faultless up until that moment.
