Report: Everton must double James McCarthy offer

Wigan Athletic tell Everton to double their offer for midfielder James McCarthy if they want to sign him before the end of the transfer window, according to a report.

Wigan Athletic have told Everton they will have to bid at least £14m to sign midfielder James McCarthy, according to a report.

The Latics rebuffed an offer of £7m from Roberto Martinez's side for the Republic of Ireland international, stating that the Toffees had fallen way short of the valuation of the player.

Owen Coyle's side have warned Everton they will not be able to land the 22-year-old unless they double their initial offer, reports The Mirror.

Toffees midfielder Marouane Fellaini is reportedly close to leaving the club to join Manchester United and former boss David Moyes in a £36m deal.
