Patrick Bamford apologises to Crystal Palace after describing loan as "terrible"

Patrick Bamford apologises to Crystal Palace after describing his loan spell at Selhurst Park from Chelsea as "terrible".

Patrick Bamford has issued an apology to Crystal Palace after describing his loan spell from Chelsea as "terrible".

The 22-year-old triggered a six-month break clause in his loan deal at Selhurst Park due to his lack of first-team action.

Bamford, who spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough, played in Alan Pardew's side just six times following his move in July.

The forward criticised his lack of playing time, but has since apologised for his remarks.

"My comments after the game at the weekend were taken completely out of context and for that I want to apologise," Bamford said on Twitter.

"I've really enjoyed my time at Palace, the lads were brilliant, the gaffer and training were great. I want to thank the chairman (Steve Parish) as I couldn't have been at a nicer club, I'm just disappointed I couldn't do more for the team but wish them all the best for the second half of the season and thank the fans for their amazing support every weekend."

Bamford joined Chelsea from Nottingham Forest in 2012.
