Cologne 'miss out on SIX FIGURE bonus' after their 2-1 loss to Bayern Munich stopped Borussia Dortmund from winning the Bundesliga, as they fail to trigger a 'lucrative clause in Anthony Modeste's contract'

- If Dortmund won, Cologne would have earned a bonus due to Anthony Modeste
Cologne have missed out on a reported six-figure bonus after their 2-1 loss to Bayern Munich kept Borussia Dortmund from winning the Bundesliga title.
Dortmund began the day two points clear of Bayern Munich at the top of the table, but could only manage a 2-2 draw with Mainz.
It means that Thomas Tuchel's side win was enough to secure an 11th consecutive title on goal difference.
The result will be felt especially keenly by Steffen Baumgart's side, as they were set to rake in a six-figure sum if Dortmund prevailed.
According to German outlet Express, Cologne included a championship clause when they sold French striker Anthony Modeste to Dortmund last summer, which entitled them to a hefty fee if the club went on to win the title.

Despite Dortmund's title charge, Modeste, 35, has endured a difficult first season with the club, scoring just two goals in 28 appearances.
The former Blackburn striker is out of contract this summer and is not expected to earn a new deal.
Bayern's 33rd title win came after a turbulent few months from the club that saw them sack manager Julian Nagelsmann, bring in Thomas Tuchel and crash out of the Champions League to eventual finalists Manchester City.
It was far from their most convincing campaign, as Thomas Muller admitted after lifting the trophy.
'I think anyone who's interested in soccer, particularly German soccer, will say we don't deserve it, and I understand, because our second half of the season was so chaotic, on the field, off the field,' he said.

Jude Bellingham looked emotional after what could well be his final game for Dortmund
'But this moment is still unbelievable for the group, that's what will be remembered, it's crazy.'
For Dortmund, it is now 12 years since their last league title, and the blow of missing out at such a late stage is unlikely to be softened by the news surrounding star midfielder Jude Bellingham.
The 19-year-old was visibly emotional after the game, which may be his last for the club after links with Real Madrid.
Reports have suggested a move could be announced as soon as next week, although Dortmund maintain they have received no proposals for Bellingham.
