Jose Enrique believes we could one day talk about Alexander Isak alongside Newcastle United legends like Alan Shearer, David Ginola and Kevin Keegan, provided he can stay injury free.

After joining from Real Sociedad last summer, the 23-year-old Swede has had an impressive debut season in the Premier League, netting ten goals and showing plenty of promising qualities. But injuries have limited him to only 21 league appearances so far.

Despite that, former Newcastle and Liverpool defender Enrique is very excited about what he's seen from Isak, and believes as long as he does remain injury free, there is no reason he can't write his name into the club's history books alongside the aforementioned greats.

Speaking to SafeBettingSites, Enrique said: "It is too early for Alexander Isak to be compared to Alan Shearer. He does really well as a striker and plays on the left wing. The problem with him is his injuries. If he can stay injury free, then he will become a Newcastle legend for sure.

"But to compare him to Ginola, Shearer and Keegan, he needs more time at Newcastle before we can ask that question again."

Isak's ten goals have complemented the 18 scored by Callum Wilson well, as Eddie Howe's side have secured a top-four Premier League finish for the first time in 20 years. Isak and co will now be hoping they can build on that next season as they look to maintain their Premier League form whilst also competing in the Champions League.
