Manchester United defender Brandon Williams has delivered a savage dig at Rio Ferdinand and Manchester City as they celebrated their treble.

City beat Inter Milan 1-0 in the Champions League final in Istanbul, completing one of the most incredible seasons of all time.

Having lifted the Premier League title and FA Cup, this was the final piece of the treble to win - completing a prestigious treble.

It makes City the first side to claim the legendary achievement since United in 1999 when they did it under Sir Alex Ferguson.

And Red Devils ace Williams was quick to remind their local rivals about their achievement on social media.

He posted to his Instagram story saying: "Nobody wants a sloppy seconds."

The defender was referring to United's treble-winning side 24 years ago amid debates over which side is better.

Ferguson's side was full of iconic stars such as David Beckham, Roy Keane and Ryan Giggs.

But Williams was not done yet and even went on to call out United legend Ferdinand, working for BT Sport in Istanbul in his next message on Instagram.

The 22-year-old wrote, after seeing the former defender compliment United's rival players: "@rioferdy5 Bet you don't congratulate if you was [sic] player keeep [sic] the same morals. [Snoozing face emoji] too [sic] face is boring."

He continued in subsequent posts: "You don't praise simple as. Fakessssssssss for [money emoji].

"Attention on this than celebrating [laughing emojis]. Drawnnnnmmmm (nibbleeeee)."

Pep Guardiola's team have put on a remarkable show this campaign, completing the treble in tough conditions having trailed Arsenal for much of the season in the Premier League.

A late-year crumble from the Gunners as City rampantly won game after game saw them leapfrog their rivals to land the league title.

And United even had the chance to put an early end to their treble hopes when they faced them in the FA Cup final.

However, two excellent Ilkay Gundogan volleys were enough to make sure that they claimed victory at Wembley.

But arguably the biggest prize of the lot was to come as they faced Inter Milan in the Champions League final on Saturday in Istanbul.

Despite superstars Erling Haaland, Kevin de Bruyne and Jack Grealish all on the pitch, an unlikely hero emerged in Rodri.

The Spaniard's brilliant strike after the hour mark was enough to ensure City won their first-ever Champions League title.

Ederson also proved vital after some crucial late saves as Inter went down fighting but, in truth, this City side deserves the accolades after a breathtaking campaign.

Speaking live on talkSPORT, ex-City boss Stuart Pearce said: "They deserve the treble.

"I have to tip my hat to Inter, their fans have been brilliant, the team played really really well.
