MONEY TALKS

Rangers ‘set asking price’ for Glen Kamara amid transfer interest – and they could be in line for a big profit

RANGERS have set their asking price for Glen Kamara, according to a report.

The Finnish midfielder, 27, is not expected to be a first-choice option going forward under Michael Beale and the Ibrox club are understood to be open to offers for him.

Kamara cost Gers just £50,000 from Dundee and he has gone on to make almost 200 appearances for the Light Blues, including a string of excellent performances in their run to the Europa League final in 2022.

The additions of Nico Raskin and Kieran Dowell had crowded the Ibrox midfield further, with Ryan Jack and John Lundstram still under contract.

Beale is also keen on Ecuadorian midfielder Jose Cifuentes, but talks with the LAFC star and his representatives are dragging on.

Kamara came close to leaving in January, with French club Nice having a bid rejected.

Further interest in France remains from the likes of Stade Rennais and Marseille, while clubs in Italy are also believed to be considering a move for the Finnish international.

It's also believed a number of English Championship sides are fans of Kamara.

Boss Beale admitted towards the end of the league season that it was "probable" Kamara would be sold on this summer.

Now, according to the Herald, Rangers have made it clear they want £5million for Kamara.

When asked about Kamara's future last month, Beale said: “For Glen, everything is open really. He is either going to be here for a considerable future or we will probably sell him this summer.

“I think he needs to look at the competition that’s here in pre-season and decide whether there is going to be enough football for him. It’s not my sole decision.

“It’s the decision of the board and everyone in between to make sure we make Rangers stronger and take us in a positive direction over the next three to five years.

“Who are going to be the main players in that? We spoke about the boys the other night and Glen and one or two others have been the bedrock of a championship-winning team and a team that went to a European final.

“It’s now important that we rebuild another team.”

Kamara himself was spotted playing street football with some fans over the weekend.
