Yann Sommer opens up on future amid Manchester United transfer links
Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag is eyeing a new goalkeeper with the future of David De Gea still uncertain
Bayern Munich goalkeeper Yann Sommer has downplayed speculation linking him with a move away from the club, insisting he still has 'two years' left on his contract.
Sommer is one of several shot-stoppers to have been linked with a move to United, with Erik ten Hag keen to add in that area this summer. Current first-choice David De Gea is in the final weeks of his contract, albeit talks have been ongoing regarding a new deal for some time.
Regardless of De Gea's future, Ten Hag is open to adding competition to the role, with Jack Butland returning to parent club Crystal Palace at the end of the season.
United have the trio of Andre Onana, David Raya and Diogo Costa on their shortlist, but have also been linked with Sommer. The 34-year-old would likely arrive at a fraction of the cost and offer a stop-gap solution ahead of a longer-term addition in the future.

However when asked about links and his future before Switzerland's Euro 2024 qualifier against Andorra on Friday, the goalkeeper refused to entertain the speculation.
“I still have two years of contract with Bayern,” Sommer told SRF. “And I’m very happy about it. For this reason, I’m very relaxed. Now, I’m with the national team and then I’ll have a few days off. I’ll think about the future (later on).”
Sommer is not thought to be among the top targets at United, with Ten Hag more inclined to spend the money and land a future first-choice star this summer. Reports have suggested that the club are in talks with Porto shot-stopper Costa.
A move for any of the aforementioned trio will face stiff competition, however, with both Tottenham and Chelsea eyeing new goalkeepers as well.
Spurs are thought to have agreed personal terms with Brentford's Raya, but are unwilling to meet the Bees' £40million valuation. Chelsea, meanwhile, have seemingly set their sights on Inter's Onana.
