The transfer window has been officially open for just over a week with a busy summer anticipated for Manchester United.
United are expected to make several signings this summer in a variety of positions. Goalkeeper, central midfield and striker are all areas of the squad that are expected to be priority areas for reinforcements.
In central midfield, United have already agreed personal terms with Mason Mount over a potential move to Old Trafford. A transfer fee still needs to be agreed with Chelsea to allow the midfielder to leave Stamford Bridge.
With David de Gea yet to sign a new contract and the goalkeeper potentially leaving the club, a new No.1 may also be needed.
Centre forward is an obvious area that United must address and it's a priority position. Ten Hag must take the pressure off Marcus Rashford and several targets have been identified. Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen, Randal Kolo Muani and Rasmus Hojlund are all potential signings.

United 'sound out' Onana
Manchester United have reportedly 'sounded out' Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana about a potential summer move to Old Trafford.
The shot-stopper enjoyed n impressive season at the Serie A side, helping Simone Inzaghi's side to the Champions League final, whee they were beaten 1-0 by Man City.
His fine form between the sticks has led to speculation he could be on the move in the summer transfer window, with Chelsea said to be one of his suitors alongside United.
With David de Gea's contract set to expire at the end of the month, Erik ten Hag could be on the lookout for a new No.1.
And the Daily Mail reports that Onana 'is a leading contender' to replace De Gea should he leave United.
The report adds that Onana fits the profile of goalkeeper Ten Hag wants but that Inter want £50million for the Cameroonian.

Angel Di Maria set for new club
Former Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria is set to rejoin former side Benfica, according to reports.
The Argentine, 35, spent one unfruitful season at Old Trafford after being signed by former manager Louis van Gaal in 2014.
He has since played for Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus, where his contract is set to expire this month.
The Sun reports that Di Maria is now set to move back to Benfica, 13 years after leaving for Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Ten Hag 'infuriated' as takeover drags on
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is reportedly 'infuriated' as the club's lack of progress in the takeover saga impacts his transfer plans.
According to The Mirror, Ten Hag held a meeting with technical director Darren Fletcher in spring to identify target to help the club get ahead in the summer window.
But it is claimed that the club's transfer plans have stalled with a resolution in the club's protracted takeover still not in sight.
Meanwhile United have had to watch on as rivals have already started strengthening their squads with the Old Trafford outfit yet to act.

Mount ‘fears emerge’
Mason Mount fears he could be priced out of a move to Manchester United this summer, according to reports.
The Chelsea midfielder has emerged as Erik ten Hag’s top transfer target, with a second bid for the England international being submitted earlier on Wednesday.
Reports suggest that the latest offer of £45million plus £5million in add-ons has been turned down, with the Evening Standard claiming Mount is worried he could miss out on his move to Old Trafford due to the £70million fee Chelsea are asking for.
The report adds Chelsea’s position has been strengthened after they accepted a £30million bid for fellow midfielder Mateo Kovacic from Man City.

Berbatov explains why Sancho should stay at United
Dimitar Berbatov believes Jadon Sancho should not be allowed to leave Manchester United this summer.
The 23-year-old endured a difficult campaign at Old Trafford and has largely struggled to live up to expectations following his £73million transfer from Borussia Dortmund in 2021.
The winger has been linked with a move away from United during the summer transfer window, although former United forward Berbatov believes letting him go would be a mistake.

United ‘in talks’ with Rabiot’s mother
Manchester United have opened talks with Adrien Rabiot’s mother once again, it has been claimed.
The Reds held talks with Veronique, who acts as the France midfielder’s agent, last summer ahead of a potential move, although that never materialised.
The player is currently set to leave Juventus when his contract expires at the end of the month with no new deal in sight and could be available on a free transfer.
The Daily Mail reports that ‘Erik ten Hag has remained a big fan of Rabiot and wants the club to restart negotiations in an attempt to complete a deal as quickly as possible’.

Monaco ‘name’ Disasi pricetag
Monaco will discuss the sale of centre-back Axel Disasi for a fee of £34.4million (€40million), according to reports.
RMC journalist Fabrice Hawkins claims Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag will ‘talk to the player shortly’.
Arsenal and Chelsea are also thought to be monitoring the defender and could rival the Reds for his signature.

OPINION: Ten Hag could show ruthless streak by selling United partnership
"Fred ended the season by hinting that his future might lie away from Old Trafford and Fulham are interested in the 30-year-old this summer. He played 90 minutes in the FA Cup final and was the only player to be included in every matchday squad during this 62-game season. Only David de Gea and Bruno Fernandes played more than the Brazilian's 56 games this season. There was always a sense that he didn't quite fit for Erik ten Hag, however, and long term he was unlikely to be part of the plans. A decision to cash in this summer would take away a reliable player, but one that might not quite be up to the level."

United 'in talks' over Barella deal
According to a report by Gazzetta dello Sport, as cited by the Metro, United are 'in talks' to sign Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella.
The 26-year-old, who has recently been linked with a move to Newcastle United, has cemented himself as one of the most gifted midfielders in Europe and he played a key role in helping Inter reach the Champions League final in 2022/23.
It is claimed that United have 'held phone calls' with Inter about the prospect of luring Barella to Old Trafford.

Kane 'hopes' United will resurrect their interest
Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane 'hopes' United will rekindle their interest in his signature this summer if chairman Daniel Levy lowers his demands.
That is according to a report by the Mail, which claims Levy is currently after £100million to part with the England captain. United manager Erik ten Hag pinpointed Kane as his top striker target back in March, but the Reds have since cooled their interest because of Levy's demands.
However, they remain determined to add a world-class striker to their ranks this summer and it appears as though Kane is still keen on a move to Old Trafford.

OPINION: Meet the two powerful executives who are blocking United's dream transfer plans
"Although Harry Kane is heading into the final year of his deal and it would be logical to cash in now, Daniel Levy would rather risk him leaving on a free transfer in 2024 than sanction a departure for his golden goose to a Premier League rival. Levy is notorious for dragging out negotiations and he won't entertain the thought of Kane leaving. The extent of his stubbornness was recently highlighted by a source half-jokingly saying United would have to 'kill him' to sign the striker."

United to 'rival' Arsenal in Rice race
According to a report by The Telegraph, United are going to 'rival' Arsenal in the battle to sign West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.
It is claimed that the Reds are considering a player-plus-cash offer to try and tempt the Hammers into selling the England international. The report states that Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay are being considered as options to include within the offer.
Arsenal have pinpointed Rice as their top target in this summer's transfer window and have already seen two bids knocked back, one of which was a club-record offer.

United the 'only club interested' in Onana
According to a report by Sky Italia, United are the 'only club' who are interested in signing Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana.
The former Ajax shot-stopper has been closely linked with a move to Old Trafford over the past week or so after it became increasing likely that David de Gea will leave the club this summer. Onana has previously worked with Erik ten Hag at Ajax and it is being touted that a reunion could be on the cards.

Southgate sends warning to Maguire
Southgate has warned Maguire he needs more first-team minutes to keep his England place.
“Harry is captain of an incredible football club so that is a difficult situation, he will obviously be frustrated not to play as much as he would like but I think he has handled that really well, he has publicly talked well about supporting the team," he said.
“It is clear, really. I think Harry and Kalvin are the two who have played the least in terms of guys in this squad this season but we have gone with them because in these two positions we think they are still ahead of others that might have played more.
“But it is then hard when that competition gets more even and you are not playing regularly to see their form, see their fitness so that is the challenge for everybody.”

Why United are selling Iqbal
It was supposed to be the season that made Zidane Iqbal at Manchester United. Instead, it turned out to be his last.
The 20-year-old was arguably the standout performer on United's pre-season tour last summer, but despite being highly rated at the club, he is set to leave permanently this week.
The Manchester Evening News confirmed reports on Tuesday night that United had accepted an offer believed to be around €1million from FC Utrecht.

United submit second bid for Mount
United have tabled a second offer worth up to £50million for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, with negotiations ongoing between the two clubs.
United's bid would see them pay an initial £45m fee for Mount, within a further £5m in add-ons, but Chelsea are holding out for around £15m more as part of the up-front transfer fee.
While the two clubs are continuing to try and thrash out the framework of a deal, United are reluctant to keep increasing their offer for a player who has a year left on his contract and has shown no desire to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.

Ratcliffe 'less confident of takeover'
INEOS are less confident about completing a purchase of United, according to Nice-Matin.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been actively involved in trying to purchase United since the club was put up for sale in November, but it's now claimed his hopes of an acquisition have dwindled.
A fresh report from a French outlet claims his company INEOS have suffered a 'loss of confidence' in the deal, despite it also outlining they remaining focused on a potential purchase of the club.

OPINION: Ten Hag might have new first-team player
Erik ten Hag described Kobbie Mainoo as 'on his way' to United's first team at a press conference last month.
The manager touted Mainoo and Garnacho as the brightest prospects from the academy, two players who'd been key in the club's successful FA Youth Cup campaign in 2021/22 and he reiterated the importance of youth development.
"Ajax was the same as Man United in developing young players, giving young players opportunities to work on their personality if they feel that they are good people and they have a good life and they can contribute in society," he said.

United 'still interested in Rabiot'
United have spoken with Adrien Rabiot's mother/agent again, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Although United explored the possibility of signing Rabiot last year and they agreed a £15m fee rising to £20m with Juventus, the move was called off due to the midfielder’s wage demands.
However, this fresh report suggests United have rekindled their interest in Rabiot and that a decision on his next move is expected in the coming days, with Juventus wanting to keep him.

Iqbal appears to confirm departure
Zidane Iqbal has appeared to confirm his Manchester United exit by thanking a fan page for wishing him good luck in his next move.
It emerged on Tuesday night that United had accepted an offer from FC Utrecht for academy graduate Iqbal and sources confirmed the bid to be around €1million, which will see the midfielder move to the Eredivisie on a four-year deal.
Iqbal completed a medical on Monday afternoon and his 11-year spell with United is now coming to an end. The youngster joined the academy aged nine and he became the first British South Asian footballer to represent the club.

Martinez provides injury update
Lisandro Martinez has provided an update on his recovery from injury with the United defender hopeful of returning for pre-season.
Martinez has been sidelined since suffering a foot injury in the 2-2 Europa League quarter-final draw at home to Sevilla in February. It was soon confirmed a broken metatarsal would keep him out for the remainder of the season.
The Argentinian underwent surgery on the injury in the following days, with early summer set as a target for a return.
