After Bournemouth’s Justin Kluivert followed in his father Patrick’s step by playing in the Premier League, Daily Star Sport takes a look at previous father and son Premier League duos

Bournemouth announced the signing of Justin Kluivert from AS Roma for a fee believed to be £9.6million - seeing the 24-year-old follow in his legendary dad Patrick’s footsteps by gracing the Premier League.
Ajax and Holland legend Patrick only lasted one season in England at Newcastle United before he was released at the end of the 2004/05 season. But there are several other father and son duos that enjoyed far more success and continued recognition for their playing days in the Premier League.
Amongst those aces, there have been multiple league title winners and international stars who have set top-flight and club records along the way. And some of them have become club legends in the process where they’re still remembered and yearned for today.
So here we go, as Daily Star Sport takes a look at seven father and sons to have played in the Premier League, including the Kluivert duo.
Patrick Kluivert
Patrick sits 4th in the Netherlands’ all-time list of top goalscorers with 40, and he proved his eye for goal during his prime at Barcelona, AC Milan and Ajax – where he won the Champions League. Kluivert played just 25 times in the league for Newcastle, scoring 13 times.

Justin is Bournemouth’s latest signing as the Cherries look to secure Premier League football for another season under new boss Andoni Iraola. The 24-year-old’s career hasn’t hit the heights expected of him at Ajax, but the Premier League gives him the perfect platform to prove himself.

Alex wasn’t able to carve out a career as illustrious to his father, but the Northern Ireland international racked up 48 Premier League games during his time at Hull City and Birmingham City. He was recently assistant manager at West Brom after retiring from professional football in 2020.

Ian Wright, Wright, Wright still holds his place amongst the best strikers to have played in the Premier League – scoring 113 top-flight goals and lifting the Premier League in 1998 to mark the end of his Gunners career. He scored a record 185 goals in total for Arsenal before Thierry Henry took his crown.
