Celtic hero Scott Brown poised to join hunt for ex-Hibs pal Steven Fletcher as Premiership rivals eye Dundee Utd star

STEVEN FLETCHER tonight quit Dundee United — and he could get a route straight back to the Premiership with Motherwell.
SunSport understands Fir Park boss Stuart Kettlewell is interested in bringing the 36-year-old to the Steelmen.
Fletcher reached an agreement with United to terminate his deal, but intends to keep playing so is on the hunt for a top-flight club.
The ex-Scotland international was one of the few bright spots in a miserable season which resulted in the Arabs’ relegation.
Well are one of the clubs interested in securing his services as they hunt for a Kevin Van Veen replacement, so will now look at a package to tempt him.
Fletcher said: “I would like to thank everyone at United for the warm reception my family and I received, and the fans for welcoming me with open arms.

“That’s something that will never leave me.”
If Fletcher is open to a return to England he could be a target for Fleetwood boss Scott Brown.
It's also been suggested that St Mirren are also keen on doing business for the veteran.
'Motherwell won their first pre-season friendly in Holland last night, beating HSC Haaksbergen 1-0, after an own goal from Mika Schrijver.

Speaking after the match, manager Kettlwell said: "It was a really good exercise for us. I think that first game is so important in terms of coming away without any injuries which we have done.
"We pitched to the players that they would all play 45 minutes each. One or two played a few more with the balance in the squad that we've got but it was great exercise and we've done really well up to this point.
"It's been hard for the players with the heat and the contents of the session but we reset tomorrow and have another chunk of the trip to come.
"The only way to get fit is to play in a full size pitch and play 11 vs 11 so that's the bit the players were starved of at the start of pre-season, but they've worked exceptionally hard and you can see the enthusiasm of them."
