Rangers ‘agree Cyriel Dessers deal’ with final fee for Cremonese star revealed

RANGERS are closing in on making Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers their sixth signing of the summer.

After weeks of claim and counter claim, it's now being reported that the two sides have AGREED a final fee for the Nigeria international.

According to the Daily Mail, the outlay is said to be £4.5m.

That just leaves formalities such as a medical and terms to be agreed - before the Belgian-born 28-year-old joins Sam Lammers and Abdallah Sima in a new-look Ibrox front line for next season.

It had been thought that the two parties were far apart on a fee, despite Cremonese dropping into the Italian second tier - with the possibility of the Ibrox side breaking the impasse by taking him on an initial loan with an option to buy.

Footy transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano wrote on Twitter: "Understand Rangers are closing in on deal for Cyriel Dessers.

"Agreement now imminent with Cremonese for Nigerian striker — here we go soon.

"#RangersFC Clubs have agreed on final fee and all documents are being drafted."

The Italian side paid £6.5million to sign Dessers from Genk last summer and want to recoup as much of that as they can.

Cremonese sporting director Simone Jacket indicated yesterday that there was movement in the talks.

Jacket told Sport Italia: "There is a negotiation with Rangers underway.

"But at the moment, everything is still because we are waiting for them to formulate a new proposal."
