Man Utd: Phil Jones scores incredible goal in training in 2020
Phil Jones is now a figure of Manchester United’s past. And in the wake of the England international’s departure, it’s now emerged he was unhappy with two stories that were written about him during his time at Old Trafford. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with the 31-year-old, who had been at the club ever since his arrival from Blackburn Rovers back in the summer transfer window of 2011.
Jones has left United after making just five appearances for the club in the past three seasons.

And the Manchester Evening News have now revealed the former Blackburn star was unhappy with two specific stories about him during his time at the club.
Jones apparently was unhappy after he was ruthlessly compared to Dianne Abbott, the Labour MP for Hackney North and Stoke Newington.
He told a United press officer, while also ‘approaching a colleague at open training to decry the quip’.
And it’s also said Jones was aggrieved about an article published following the arrival of Raphael Varane from Real Madrid in 2021.
Varane reportedly requested the No 4 shirt upon joining the club, with Jones not playing for the club for 18 months at the time.
