Arsenal fans are desperate to see Santi Cazorla return to the club in a management role after Mikel Arteta and his assistant parted ways.

The Gunners confirmed Steve Round has left the Emirates Stadium - having been Arteta's assistant since 2019. And Gunners fans want to see cult-hero Cazorla return to the club as Arteta's new assistant manager.

"You know what time it is, Santi time. Please, football gods, make this happen," one fan tweeted. While a second added: "The perfect replacement our very own Santi Cazorla... bring him home!"

"Good move from Mikel, always important to freshen things up to keep the players on their toes. I would love to replace Steve Round with Santi," a third tweeted. And another added: "If this means Santi is coming back, I might celebrate that more than any other signing this summer!"

Speaking back in 2021, Cazorla revealed: "It is something that I would value tomorrow, now I am not considering it.

“If I am given the opportunity, and he believes that I can help him, it is something that I would not mind - and I would leave the door open to enjoy that experience with him. But there is nothing for today, it will be seen.”

Cazorla spent six years at Arsenal, where he emerged as a cult hero, however, injuries put a stop to his spell in north London. There were fears one particular ankle injury might force him to retire - but the Spaniard returned to football with Villarreal.

In 2020, Cazorla moved to the Middle-East, where he joined Qatari side Al Sadd, and the midfield maestro left the club earlier this year.
