Scott Arfield delights Rangers fans by snubbing Celtic-style huddle

FORMER Rangers star Scott Arfield appears to not have forgotten his connection to the Light Blues as his new club formed a Celtic-style huddle.

The Canadian international left the Gers this summer to join MLS side Charlotte FC after his contract at Ibrox expired.

And he made his first start for the American side this weekend in a match against FC Cincinnati.

Arfield, 34, saw his new employers go 2-0 up inside 24 minutes courtesy of a brace from Karol Swiderski.

They would eventually lose their two-goal advantage, throwing away the lead in the second-half with Cincinnati fighting back to secure a 2-2 draw in North Carolina.

The game was overshadowed by a clip of Charlotte's club commentator channelling the spirit of "Mickey Mouse" going viral online.

But this wasn't the only thing fans pointed out in the game, with eagle-eyed Rangers supporters spotting their ex-midfielder not fully committing to a huddle.

The pre-match routine is used widely across the football world but is most synonymous in Scotland with the Ibrox club's fierce rivals the Hoops.

Arfield can be seen inside the huddle but keeping his arms by his side rather than linking up with his teammates.

This act of defiance may not have been as profound other former Light Blues stars, however fans still lapped it up.

One wrote on social media: "Yer man don't huddle."

Another supporter praised Arfield and said: "Top man Scotty."

A third added: "Scotty keeping his arms by his side, respecting his new team and disrespecting that lot."
