Everton have named a 28-man travelling squad for their Alpine training camp but captain Seamus Coleman and Mason Holgate – who were both at Finch Farm last week – are among a clutch of players who are not going on the trip as the team flew out on Monday morning.

Republic of Ireland international Coleman, whose new one-year contract was announced on June 29, is staying back at Finch Farm to work on his rehabilitation from injury having sustained medial knee ligament damage back in May.

Also missing from the group are Holgate, who trained with the squad last week but the ECHO understands is available for transfer, Vitalii Mykolenko and want-away midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin, whose agent Bernard Collignon said three weeks ago “will not return to the English club” despite having another year left on his contract.

Everton’s website states that only players currently involved in international football (such as Demarai Gray, who helped Jamaica reach the semi-finals of the Concacaf Gold Cup in the early hours of Monday morning) and continuing rehabilitation from injuries (like the aforementioned Coleman) are unavailable to manager Sean Dyche.
