Former Manchester United youngster Tahith Chong is set for a Premier League return with Birmingham prepared to sell the attacking midfielder for about £5million.
Newly-promoted Luton are one of the clubs to have shown an interest in Chong, who joined Blues from United for £1.5m last year after a successful loan spell.
Despite the imminent arrival of new owners Tom Wagner and American investment firm Knighthead, Birmingham are likely to operate within a tight budget in the coming campaign, with boss John Eustace made aware there is limited room for manoeuvre.
Jobe Bellingham, the younger brother of England star Jude, has already joined Sunderland for about £3m and Chong's departure would boost the coffers further.
Ethan Laird and Tyler Roberts have joined from United and Leeds respectively for a combined cost of about £1.5m.

Tahith Chong played 38 times for Birmingham last season as they finished 17th in the league

Eustace did a very impressive job in steering Blues to comfortable survival in the Championship last season against a backdrop of off-field uncertainty. He is thought to have attracted interest from Swansea during the close season but opted to remain at St Andrew's.
Mail Sport understands Eustace will be expected to improve on last season's 17th-place finish, even though he is working with a smaller wage bill.
Eustace said: 'I've had brief conversations,' said Eustace. 'We haven't really been able to sit down and nail things out. There's a lot going on at the football club at the moment.
'I would like to think they are trusting me to get on with my side of it and when the time is right I'm sure we'll sit down and bang out the plan for the future.'
