Rangers legend Allan McGregor spotted enjoying round of golf with Ryder Cup hero

WE haven't seen much of Allan McGregor since his departure from Rangers at the end of last season.

But as he gears up for his testimonial, he's been spotted enjoying a round of golf with a European Ryder Cup hero.

Legendary goalkeeper McGregor left Rangers at the end of last season along with a whole host of key first team stars.

His Ibrox story isn't quite over yet, however.

He'll be pulling on the No1 shirt one last time next week when Rangers welcome Premier League giants Newcastle United to Glasgow for McGregor's testimonial.

McGregor made more than 500 appearances across two spells with the Light Blues, winning 13 major honours.

The 41-year old has yet to announce if he intends to hang up his gloves or continue playing next season, but in the meantime, he's been rubbing shoulders with some big names on the golf course.

It's the Scottish Open this week at the stunning Renaissance Club in North Berwick and McGregor's one of the major non-golf stars who have been invited along.

Wednesday is Pro-Am day and the former Scotland keeper has been spotted out on the course.

And he's in good hands too, being paired with a European Ryder Cup hero.

McGregor is making his way around with Swedish golf star Alex Noren, who was part of Thomas Bjorn's Europe team that thumped the USA in 2018.

The 11-time tour winner, who finished 6th at The Open in 2017, also has fellow pro Grant Forrest and former Scotland striker Steven Fletcher for company.

Tartan Army heroes John McGinn and Scott McTominay are among the other famous faces who have teed up at Renaissance this morning.

The Scottish Open boasts a star-studded field that includes the likes of Rory McIlroy, World No1 Scottie Scheffler, Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood and current U.S. Open Champion Wyndham Clark.

The big event offers a final chance for players to fine tune their game and find some form ahead of the The Open which takes place at Royal Liverpool the following weekend.
