David Goodwillie has made an appearance for ninth tier side Glasgow United during their pre-season friendly clash with Pollok.

Former Dundee United player Goodwillie, who was deemed a rapist by a civil court judge in 2017, has been unable to find a long-term club since leaving Clyde in 2022 for Raith Rovers. The Starks Park club were hit with widespread backlash after signing Goodwillie from Clyde at the end of the January 2022 window and he would be released eight months later after initially returning to The Bully Wee on loan before a U-turn.

Goodwillie subsequently appeared as a trialist for non-league side Livingston United before moving to English club Radcliffe FC - where he was released after just one game. The 34-year-old joined Australian outfit Sorrento FC last month but was axed by the club just hours after being confirmed as their latest signing.

He has now been offered a route back into the game by the West of Scotland League side as he made an appearance at Newlandsfield Park. They are preparing for their upcoming campaign in the Third Division of the non-league set-up - the ninth their of the Scottish game.

The former Scotland international was ordered to pay £100,000 in damages by a judge over the incident in West Lothian following the civil court ruling. He has since maintained his innocence and no criminal charges were brought against him.
