Besiktas 'make £2.1m bid for Rob Holding, but Arsenal will REJECT the offer' despite defender finding himself down the pecking order at the Emirates
- Holding made 14 appearances for Arsenal last season as he tried to step up
- He struggled for form in replacing William Saliba in the Gunners' title charge
- The imminent signing of Jurrien Timber would push him further down the order
Besiktas have made an offer to sign Rob Holding from Arsenal, according to a report.
The defender will likely find himself down the pecking order at the Emirates this season after a string of disappointing performances last campaign.
He struggled to fill in for William Saliba when the centre-back picked up a back injury during Arsenal's title run-in and later lost his place to Jakub Kiwior.
Arsenal are also set to compete the signing of Jurrien Timber in the coming days to add to their defensive ranks.
According to The Athletic, the Turkish side have offered £2.1million for the Englishman, though Arsenal are set to reject the offer.

The defender could find himself down the pecking order at the Gunners next season

Arsenal are, however, expected the reject the offer from the Turkish side for Holding
Holding made 14 Premier League appearances last season as he was picked by manager Mikel Arteta to step up in Saliba’s absence.
But he struggled for form and the left-footed Kiwior ousted him for the final few games.
The 27-year-old joined the club from Bolton in 2016 for £2.5million and it was hoped he would kick on to have a successful career in the game.

Arsenal drew 1-1 in their opening pre-season game against Nurenberg on Thursday afternoon
He never kicked on, however, and would likely be the Gunners’ sixth choice at the back this season.
In total, Holding had made 157 appearances for Arsenal in his seven years at the club, but that tally could come to and end if the move is completed.
While it's unclear if the player himself would be keen on the move, he wasn't involved in Arsenal's opening pre-season game against Nurnberg on Thursday. He did, however, play in a behind-closed-doors game earlier this month.
The Gunners drew 1-1 in Germany in after Jorginho's bizarre own goal cancelled out Bukayo Saka's first half opener.
