Cardiff City line up loan move for West Brom star Karlan Grant

Cardiff City have submitted a loan offer to sign West Brom striker Karlan Grant.

Erol Bulut has been keen to bolster City's attack this summer after the club finished the Championship's second-lowest scorers last term.

They have already brought in Yakou Meite and Ike Ugbo to bolster the forward line, while Dimitrios Goutas has been signed with a view to adding goals from set pieces. Aaron Ramsey is on the cusp of signing, too, which will add mountains of creativity to a side that has been sorely lacking it in recent seasons.

But in another potentially big moment in this transfer window, Cardiff are keen to prise Grant away from the Baggies, for whom he signed on a six-year deal for an eye-watering £15million from Huddersfield Town in 2020.

Grant, still only 25, scored 23 goals in 56 appearances across the Premier League and the Championship in two years at Huddersfield Town, earning him that money-spinning move to West Brom.

It's just not quite worked out for the forward at The Hawthorns, though, for whatever reason, despite him scoring 18 goals in 44 Championship appearances the season before last. He netted three times in 31 games last term.

Carlos Corberan almost sanctioned an exit for him last term, with the forward nearly sealing a loan move to Cardiff's rivals Swansea on January's transfer deadline day before a late u-turn.

As well as Ugo and Meite, City have Callum Robinson, Kion Etete, Isaak Davies and Max Watters in their striker stable, however the latter is thought to be the subject of League One transfer interest.
